Recently, there has been a rapprochement between Azerbaijan and Morocco. Recently, a visa exemption agreement was signed between the two countries.

This should be seen in the context of “positive” articles about Azerbaijan published in Moroccan media such as LeMatin and Tel quel, whose teams were invited by Azerbaijan to the “liberated territories” in Artsakh.

Karim Ifrak, a Moroccan-born lobbyist for Azerbaijan in France, is mentioned in the publication of the Association Dialogue France-Azerbaïdjan. He is very active in the service of Azerbaijan in France, and is close to lobbyist Jean-Michel Brun. An Islamologist, he is a researcher at the CNRS. He is the author of several books and has been invited by the Institut du Monde Arabe to speak at an event.

Le 5 mai 2024, La Commission d'État chargée des affaires avec les associations religieuses d’Azerbaïdjan présente même Karim Ifrak comme le directeur de l’Institut du Monde Arabe !

A fairly regular presence at events organized by Azerbaijan in France, Karim Ifrak has often communicated on behalf of Azerbaijan, taking advantage of his status, sometimes presented as a “historian”, “geopolitical expert”, or even “journalist”.

The Islamic World Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), a member of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and based in Morocco, has followed suit, although it is not strictly speaking a Moroccan structure.

In 2024, ICESCO, made up of 54 member states, chose Shushi as the Capital of the Islamic World 2024, rewarding the ethnic cleansing and genocidal intentions of Aliyev's Azerbaijan.

It is pathetic that, while calling on the world to condemn Israel's extermination of the Palestinians, ICESCO rewards Azerbaijan's ethnic cleansing of the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh. This decision must be denounced.
